Syntra Small | Code Editor Built for Speed App Reviews

Excelent

Very fast(!!) and easy to use. I only miss the possibilitiy to set a custom font. It should remember the last window size and position.

Mostly perfect as a light editor

This editor opens up very quickly, the dock icon hardly has a chance to start bouncing. Its interface is very minimal, which I like. For a “quick” text editor, this is really good. My only two gripes: 1) When in dark mode, the window quickly flashes white when opening, and 2) The way you change themes is tedious and annoying (it should be a dropdown in Preferences).

Omg

Thank you for update, but now app isnt start (el capitan)

good but….

The application is good until the last update it’s cause of crash. So i’m not able to open it.

Just keeps getting better and not too much bigger

This editor has really met my needs and the new features have been added quickly and are very well thought out and relevant - at least to me. I highly suggest this editor. Something that would be useful, again at least to me, would be a code folding feature with the goal of collapsing the element tree and seeing, for example, just the functions of a program or top level objects in an XML document and digging down from there. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Why is find/search function grayed out?

Its "[s]mall" but the absence of find/search is a huge turn-off. On the other hand, it has spell-checking. Thats some weird priorities in feature imiplementation. No code or text editor, no matter its niche, should be without fundamentals such as search.

Great code editor, just keeps getting better!

The latest release of 0.3.0 was a significant improvement over the last updates. The addition of folder support is great! Syntra Small is quickly becoming a real competitor of Sublime/Atom. I’m just curious whether the developer is going to continue sticking to the original philosophy of keeping it {s}mall. I cannot wait to hear more about the Plugin SDK that is promised, excited to see what the community is going to build for small! ORIGINAL REVIEW -------------------------------------------------- I hope for the developers sake that when more developers download this app they don’t begin giving it low starred reviews because it’s very bare bones compared to other code editors. The thing to keep in mind, is that is the intention of this app. I can vibe with this app right off the bat, knowing that I have Atom for my huge projects, but now I have another code editor that can be launched in a second and edit any single scripts I need to change. This is a significant improvement to my workflow, as before when I would go to edit a random script, it would launch Atom and (usually) try to resume where I left off in my last projects. When you work on large code bases, this takes a long time to load. This app has been a huge time saver. I do hope the developers continue adding more features into this app, one thing that would be nice is the addition of a “select next instance of word” like Atom has. **Updated Review for 0.2.0)** Wow, less than 2 days after the release of 0.1.3 the developers have already issued a fix for the window title bar issue. I don’t even think anybody got a chance to complain or report the bug. Very responsive developers on this app. **Updated Review for 0.1.3)** The new emmet support is greatly appreciated! Being able to instantly create long lists using “li*9” and tabbing through them, works flawlessly! **Updated Review for 0.1.2)** small now supports uploading to gist which is an awesome feature for github aficionados like myself. I do hope they add actual gist management tools in the future (edit/delete gists)

I like it and I don

This app is on a short leash with me. I like it but the old version crashed all the time and if it apears this verison is going that way it is gone. Update: I hate it. I can’t even update to the new version. Too bad it was fast and I really wanted it to work.

as long as you realize what it’s for, it’s great.

Excellent performance, needs folder support

Overall a great minimal code editor. Starts up significantly faster than both Sublime Text and Atom and hasnt crashed on me after a week of constant usage. I just want folder support!
